The Hungry Planet


The article from the National Geographic written by Scott Elder, addresses the number of people in the planet who are undernourished. There are about 850 million people who eat less than 2,100 calories per day. They mostly live in the poorest nations. Scott listed the reasons these nations live under famine. In places in the world such as, Sub-Saharan in Africa, Afghanistan, Iraq and Sudan suffer from human conflict. In North Korea the government refuses to receive foreign support. And the Democrat Republic, Bangladesh, China, Haiti, Mongolia and India, have suffered from natural disaster which keeps them under developed.
